Former “Hannah Montana” star, Mitchel Musso, has found himself in legal trouble as he faces charges of theft and public intoxication. The 32-year-old actor, best recognized for his role as Oliver Oken on the beloved Disney Channel series was apprehended in Rockwall, Texas, following an altercation over the weekend.
According to a press release from the Rockwall Police Department, Musso was taken into custody on Saturday night after an incident at a local hotel was reported. Allegedly intoxicated, he is said to have entered the hotel and taken a bag of chips without paying for it. When confronted about payment, Musso allegedly responded with verbal aggression before leaving the premises without settling the matter.
Authorities were alerted to the situation and identified Musso outside the hotel, where his signs of intoxication prompted his arrest. He faces two charges: public intoxication and theft under $100. Additionally, a background check unveiled multiple outstanding traffic warrants against him.
Musso spent a night in the Rockwall County Detention Center and was released the following Sunday afternoon after posting a $1,000 bond.
His time on the hit show “Hannah Montana” alongside Miley Cyrus, Emily Osment, and Jason Earles from 2006 to 2011 brought him fame. In 2016, Musso celebrated the sitcom’s 10th anniversary with an online tribute expressing his fondness for his former co-stars, depicting them as family.
This recent incident is not Musso’s first brush with the law. In 2011, he faced arrest for driving under the influence in Burbank, California. After that occurrence, he was placed on a 3-year period of unofficial probation, fined, and obligated to participate in alcohol education sessions. Musso’s professional history also includes appearances in additional Disney projects like “Pair of Kings” and “Phineas and Ferb.”
As this situation unfolds, it’s clear that Musso’s recent actions have brought attention to his personal struggles, leading many to reflect on his journey from a beloved child actor to the challenges he faces in adulthood.
