A landslide occurred at Jalan Wawasan 3/9 in Pusat Bandar Puchong at 7:14 pm, resulting in significant damage to four cars and nine houses. The incident unfolded during a heavy downpour, causing trees surrounding the area to collapse, leading to the destruction of the road.
Resident Abdul Rahim, 72, witnessed the calamity, stating, “I was in the room and saw trees falling down due to the harsh rain. When I went out, I saw the road was totally gone.”
In response to the situation, MBSJ Corporate Planning and Strategic Management Deputy Director Azfarizal Abdul Rashid instructed residents from the affected row of houses along Jalan Wawasan 3/9 to relocate to the temporary relief center (PPS) at MBSJ’s Multipurpose hall at Laman Puteri 3, Bandar Puteri, Puchong.
Emergency services, including firefighters, police officers, the civil defense department, Air Selangor officers, and RELA members, were swiftly dispatched to the scene. Subang Jaya mayor Mohd Fauzi Mohd Yatim also visited the site at 10:30 pm to assess the situation and coordinate emergency response efforts.
The cause of the landslide is currently under investigation, with authorities working diligently to determine the factors that contributed to this unfortunate incident. As the affected residents seek refuge in the temporary relief center, the community is rallying together to support those impacted by this unexpected disaster.
