Southern California Battling Severe Storm with Flooding

A powerful atmospheric river storm is wreaking havoc in Southern California, triggering widespread flooding and high winds. As the storm, part of a back-to-back system moves southward, Los Angeles County and eastern Ventura County are under a flood advisory until 8 a.m. Thursday.

Rainfall has already reached 1 to 2.5 inches, causing urban and roadway flooding. The accompanying cold front brings gusts above 60 mph, raising concerns about downed trees and potential power outages. A winter storm warning is in effect for mountainous areas, anticipating up to 18 inches of snow and challenging travel conditions.

High surf warnings along the coast and the impending arrival of a second, slower-moving storm on Sunday amplify concerns for prolonged adverse weather impacts. Residents are urged to exercise caution and stay informed as the region braces for continued severe weather.
