Behind the glitz and glamour of WWE’s televised wrestling matches lies a team of creative minds orchestrating the storylines and characters we witness each week. Bryan Danielson, although no longer with WWE, left an indelible mark during his tenure in various ways. Eric Bischoff, who briefly served as the Executive Director of WWE SmackDown, recently shed light on something Vince McMahon recognized in Bryan Danielson—a potential creative genius.
During a segment on the “83 Weeks” podcast, Eric Bischoff discussed his time in WWE and an intriguing conversation he had with Vince McMahon about Bryan Danielson’s creative abilities. It appears that McMahon was quite impressed with Danielson’s creative prowess and contemplated bringing him into WWE’s creative team.
“Vince McMahon was very impressed with Bryan Danielson, his creative. I know that there was some conversation, I don’t know how serious he was at the time, he mentioned to me that he was possibly interested in bringing in Bryan Danielson to be very involved in the creative side of things. Vince is a pretty bright guy, and you can say whatever you want about him, but I think that suggests that there is a lot of great potential there,” Bischoff revealed.
He further emphasized the importance of creative storytelling in wrestling, suggesting that it plays a pivotal role in capturing the audience’s attention. Bischoff’s insights into McMahon’s admiration for Bryan Danielson’s creative talents highlight the significance WWE places on storytelling as a key driver in the wrestling industry.
Interestingly, Bryan Danielson has found a new creative outlet in All Elite Wrestling (AEW), where he has contributed to crafting compelling narratives. There was a time when Daniel Bryan, under the WWE banner, was part of the creative team for the SmackDown brand, although his ideas reportedly faced challenges within the company.
While the extent of Bryan Danielson’s creative contributions in AEW remains to be seen, his involvement in storytelling continues to be a topic of intrigue among wrestling fans. As AEW seeks to provide an alternative wrestling experience, Danielson’s creative input may prove instrumental in shaping the promotion’s future narratives.
